I want to see!

Have you ever played that game where everyone is given an animal and all the lights are turned off and you have to wander around in the dark making your animals noise to find all the other people who have the same animal? It’s quite a hilarious game really, very loud and noisy with people making the most ridiculous sounds all in the name of uniting their animal group together!

I was reading the Bible today, in the book of Mark, chapter 10 from verse 46 onwards it tells a story of Jesus leaving the City of Jericho together with a large crowd. There was a blind man sitting by the roadside begging, it says that when he heard that it was Jesus passing by he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Verse 48 says, “Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

I have no doubt that the ‘large crowd’ with Jesus were not a quiet bunch, they would have been talking amongst themselves, calling out to Jesus, chasing after and shouting to their children, I am sure that they weren’t following in silence! This blind man, Bartimaeus, was obviously desperate, despite the noise of the crowd he began to shout after Jesus, he competed with the crowd unsure of how far or how near Jesus actually was. They told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the louder, calling out for the mercy of Jesus to help him in his situation.

I want to ask you today what noise are you competing with? What circumstances in your life are trying to drown you out? What situations have arisen that are shouting you down? What lies of the enemy are echoing in your mind trying to bring defeat and to silence your voice? What people in your world have you allowed to stifle your shout for victory? Do you feel like blind Bartimaeus, unsure of how near or how far Jesus actually is, unsure if He hears your cry, your shout for help?

Today I want to encourage you to shout all the louder! I want to stir your faith, that spirit of faith that does live inside you! Today begin to shout for the attention of Jesus again because He is right there, ready to pour mercy and goodness upon your life.

When Jesus asked Bartimaeus, “What do you want me to do for you?” Bartimaeus replied, “I want to see.” Today Jesus wants to restore your sight, He wants to restore your vision and give you Kingdom perspective, so you see things as He sees them. I absolutely believe that Jesus heals, I absolutely believe that Jesus provides, I absolutely believe that Jesus restores our first love and joy and gives peace and brings wholeness. And I absolutely believe that we need to ask for these things and believe that we have them in His Name. I also believe that there are times when the answer that we want or the miracle that we desire doesn’t occur straight away, and that is why Jesus wants to restore our sight, so that we can see as He sees. So that we can see the bigger picture of what is happening in our lives, see the story and the testimony that is taking place, see the greater miracle that is coming, see the fruit in us that He is budding, see the character in us that is being formed. He wants you to see His goodness, see His mercy, see His kindness that follow us all the days of our lives despite what those days look like. (Psalm 23)

It is so hard to see in the dark, but today, see that He is with you and He loves you and cares for you. Choose to love Him even if the miracle never comes, choose to love Him even if the healing never comes, choose to love Him even if your entire world falls apart and all you have is Him…

It is an interesting tension, believing for the breakthrough but being content with the fact that God’s got you right now, right here wherever you are and whatever you are going through. I encourage, challenge, inspire you to SHOUT… Shout out to God with a voice of triumph! He is your healer! He is your redeemer! He is your peace! He is your joy! He is your miracle! He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above!

Don’t let the noise around you drown you out… SHOUT!

Much love, Jodie. xx
