I want to see!

Have you ever played that game where everyone is given an animal and all the lights are turned off and you have to wander around in the dark making your animals noise to find all the other people who have the same animal? It’s quite a hilarious game really, very loud and noisy with people making the most ridiculous sounds all in the name of uniting their animal group together!

Feeding ducks!

Sometimes I feel like my Titles are very random, apologies for that! The other week I went for a run along the lake where we live, at one point I practically had to stop as a ridiculous amount of ducks crossed the path in front of me, waddling their way across the lawn to get to a man who was handing out bread to them! It was a funny sight, not to mention the loud and consistent quacking!

Did I just step out of the boat?

Have you ever lined up for a ride at a Theme park, sat down in the carriage, got strapped in, and then thought “What on earth am I doing”, but it’s really a bit too late because they’re about to launch you at some ridiculous speed up to crazy heights and then send you plummeting back down to earth again… The worst is when they take a photo of your face too! Sometimes life feels like that hey?!

Faithful in EVERY season!

We have now been in Sydney for almost three and a half weeks! It has been a whirlwind of activity and I am so looking forward to being settled into our new apartment…we’re almost there! Amongst the craziness though, I have had moments of reflection and I have just felt so overwhelmed by the faithfulness of God, so much so that I wanted to share some thoughts with you!

Don’t be scared of the dark!

This morning I thought to myself, I should write a blog, it’s been awhile. Then I went to go to the bathroom at our new Church in Sydney, I opened the door of the toilets but couldn’t find the light anywhere, I was in a hurry to get to Staff Meeting and didn’t have time to do go and ask anyone…so instead I held one main door open to let some light in while I opened another door to try and familiarise myself with my surroundings so that I knew where to head when the main door shut… Long story short, I literally moved around that unfamiliar bathroom in complete pitch darkness and tried to find the toilet paper, the flush and the basin without any light at all! It was quite hilarious but really made me think about operating when you can’t see…

Immeasurably more…

It really is quite astounding just how much this life is a journey. I remember (and have written proof in many journals) so many things I dreamt of doing and wrote about asking God to fulfill, most of them I wanted that week or month but definitely that year, and it makes me laugh to think that some of them have been a 5 year journey, others 10 years, others are yet to be fulfilled (and others I thank God that He knew better than to answer them!) But that doesn’t make me want to stop dreaming or to lose hope and give up. This life that we are living is a gift from God, we were born with adventure in our hearts and I have seen and continue to see that when we live life with God it is the best and most amazing adventure we could ever imagine! It’s not without it’s valleys, bumps in the road or setbacks that sometimes feel like way too much of a knockout; but it is fun, it is exciting, it is ever unfolding, it is a realm that we know not of, and when He is the centre of your life it is completely fulfilling!

pondering these things.

I was reading in my devotions the other day about the crucifixion of Jesus, I read over the words in John 19 and these ones caught my eye…

Noisy, chirping birds…

There is a Westfield shopping centre near my house, outside the shops around 4pm onwards there are hundreds (although it sounds like thousands) of noisy, chirping little birds. I don’t actually know what kind of bird they are, maybe a Noisy minor or something, but at times the sound they make is deafening! It is completely overpowering and it actually amazes me, the sound that can be made as they all chirp together.

Slip & Slide!

On Friday night at our Youth we had a giant slip & slide out in the park, it was already raining which just added to the fun really, add to that a fair amount of detergent and lux flakes and we had ourselves a slippery slope – the Youth had a blast! As the Youth Pastor I thought I’d give it a go, I ran, and I certainly slipped & I think I slid… I also cracked my head on the ground really hard!! Clearly it’s been awhile since I’ve done the slip & slide thing! (I am OK by the way, thanks for asking…)

the waves of life.

yes, those legs are mine! My friend and I used to go “surfing”, we would stay out the back for hours (ok, what I mean is that it would take us hours to get out the back…) we liked to be in the water by 7… (pm) Haha, ok all jokes aside, we definitely liked to get out into the water and have some fun!
