Speak LIFE!

Hello lovely reader! It has been a couple of weeks since I last wrote, I apologise, I was being a total tourist in New York and didn’t have time to stop and blog! What an incredible City! If you ever get the chance to go there, do it!


If the thought, ‘I will never get to go there’ or the words ‘Not likely’ etc just ran through your mind or came out of your mouth then you are exactly who I want to speak to in this blog! (As well as everyone else who said, “Yeah I want to go there!”)

A while ago I wrote a blog called ‘Revelations from a 12 year old’, you can read it here: https://jodiechristinat.com/revelations-from-a-12-year-old/. The first idea that I talked about in that blog was the fact that God loves us so much that He didn’t just speak us into being He actually formed us with His own hands. In this blog I want to look at the other aspect, the fact that He SPOKE, and the world was created!

Hebrews 11:3 says that the heavens were formed at God’s command, by the words that came from His mouth. God’s word is full of creative power and life! Whenever Jesus spoke, He brought life and healing and freedom and deliverance and the awesome thing is that we have been given that same creative power – to speak and see things changed!

Matthew 17:20 says, “if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 18:18-19 (CEV) says, “I promise you that God in heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth, but he will not allow anything you don’t allow. I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you.”

Ps Phil Pringle says it like this: our words create our world. This doesn’t mean that if a bad circumstance comes your way, it’s your own fault because of what you’ve been saying! What it does mean is that you can shape your world, you can decide whether the circumstance gets you down and defeats you, or whether you rise and declare faith over it by the words that you speak! Ps Phil says this, ‘We don’t really need faith until we have a problem, and the problem with a problem is that it squashes faith. Fear overwhelms faith, those emotions of fear force themselves upon us, but we need to decide that we are going to believe! Switch faith on!’

I read a testimony of a lady who had tumours, she and her husband for thirty days, sometimes four or five times a day, would speak life over her body and would curse the tumours and tell the enemy that he was defeated in her life etc. After thirty days she went back to the doctor and every single tumour was gone! How amazing is that! There is no recipe or strategic number of days or times per day that you need to speak positivity, sometimes there is an instant change, sometimes it takes weeks or months or years, sometimes there is never a change (until heaven is reached). Regardless of this, we can choose how we look at our life and what we speak over it.

Life is so strange. It is full of twists and curves and bends and ups and downs, sometimes it’s grand and other times it completely sucks! Despite this, we get to choose how we respond, we get to choose whether we are going to look at things with a positive outlook, with confidence and with courage and start to see our world get brighter OR whether we will see things negatively and with fear and discouragement and see our world get more and more dull.

Deuteronomy 30:19 says, ‘I have set before you life and death. CHOOSE LIFE’

I love this, it’s like the ultimate exam, God gives us the answer! It’s a multiple choice way of living, choose life or choose death but the answer is CHOOSE LIFE! How do we choose life? By the way we speak, by the thoughts that fly across our mind, capturing them and bringing them before God and asking Him to change the way we think and the way we speak. By reading His word and meditating on it – not letting it depart from our heart or mouth, by declaring the promises and the power of His Word over our lives! As you do these things you will begin to see your heart change, your thoughts change, your circumstances change (or your attitudes about your circumstances), your world will become more full of life and power!

Dare to believe that the words of life, the words and promises of God that you speak over your life DO have power and that they can heal you, restore you, set you free and completely change your world!

There is so much more that I want to say, but I’m going to leave it there. I encourage and challenge you (and me!) to start every day with good words, even if your thoughts are taking time to catch up, start speaking good things, positive things, courageous things over your life and circumstances and over the people in your life! It might take you awhile to believe it, but start speaking it and keep speaking it, over time you will see things start to change, who knows, you might even start to enjoy this thing they call ‘life’!!

Stay strong, speak boldly with great faith over your life and watch what God does! He responds to faith, it pleases Him!
