Dancing in the Rain
This blog comes to you from the streets of New York City! Thank The Lord for free wifi at Starbucks!! It’s currently raining outside, has been all day, apparently it is going to get worse overnight due to a tropical storm, Andrea, that hit Florida! Having been a Queenslander for the past 3 years I have learnt a bit better how to cope with these rainy conditions & to make the most of life regardless of the weather!
I was reading today in Acts 5 where the Apostles were put in prison for teaching and preaching and the Pharisees were in a big fuss trying to decide what to do with them.
A wise man spoke up saying, “…Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” (Acts 5:38, 39 NIV)
I love this thought, if it is of human origin it will fail, but if it is of God then you will not be able to stop it. The thing is though that it wasn’t like all of a sudden, just because it was from God everything was cruisy and easy, there was still resistance, persecution, trial, tribulation and more!
Sometimes I think we often get so discouraged because things get hard and so we think “this mustn’t be right, God can’t be in it, I’ve made a mistake” etc. However I have come to realize that just because its from God doesn’t mean it’ll be easy! In fact it’s usually harder! If there’s resistance, if there’s pressure, if there’s hardship and trial then chances are you’re actually right where God wants you!! If you have peace, if you feel that you have heard from God then stick with it! Don’t give up! Don’t give in! As you continue through you’ll get your breakthrough! As you pass the test you’ll get your testimony!! As you face the resistance you’ll develop character and resolve that will help you to stand in the toughest of times!
I guess ultimately it’s about learning how to dance in the rain, knowing that He’s with you in the storm!
Stay strong, let faith rise & party hard! You are on the verge of something great!!
